By this time, many people are
probably aware that a mysterious rock was photographed by the Mars rover,
Opportunity, on January 8, 2014.
Astronomers at the Jet Propulsion Laboratory at Pasadena, California
have named this rock Pinnacle Island, but it is also popularly known as the
Mars jelly doughnut rock. It is so named
because, although in size, this rock is only about one and one-half inches in diameter, it resembles a jelly doughnut. There are several reasons why this rock is
unusual. One reason is that it was not
present in a photograph taken by Opportunity of the Mars surface on December
26, 2013. But, when after a short trip
of thirteen days, the rover returned to its former location on January 8, 2014,
the rock had somehow mysteriously appeared.

As noted above, the rock,
Pinnacle Island, resembles a jelly doughnut.
The rock is circular like a jelly doughnut, white on the outside, and
red (but not a rust colored red typical of Mars geology) in the central
depression of the rock. The discovery of
this rock was made known at a January 16, 2014 NASA event
celebrating Opportunity’s tenth year of operation on Mars held at the Jet
Propulsion Laboratory, Pasadena, California. At that event,
Dr. Steve Squyres of Cornell University, the rover’s lead scientist, stated concerning this rock, “It’s
like nothing we ever have seen before. It’s very high in sulfur, very high in
magnesium, and has twice as much manganese than anything we’ve seen on
Mars." The reference to the elements: sulfur, magnesium, and manganese is the result of a study of
the chemical composition of the red part of the rock located in the central
depression of the latter. The chemical
composition of the white part of the rock that surrounds the red part, if determined, has not yet come to
the attention of the writer. It should be noted
that this area of the surface of Mars where the rock appeared had not been
driven over or disturbed by Opportunity between December 26, 2013 and January
8, 2014. If it had, this possibly could
account for the mysterious appearance of the rock.
However, Opportunity’s cameras confirm that this did not occur.
Dr. Squyres stated at the January 16, 2014 NASA event that the rover scientists have two theories of how the rock, called Pinnacle Island, mysteriously appeared sometime between December 26, 2013 and January 8, 2014. The first theory suggests that the rock was moved to its present location after being “kicked” or impelled in some manner by one of the six wheels of the rover. This would have had to occur either when the rover was departing or returning from its short trip. The second theory suggests that the rock was a piece of ejected debris that originated from a nearby crater-the latter having been formed by a meteorite striking the surface of Mars sometime between December 26, 2013 and January 8, 2014. Dr. Squyres stated that, in his opinion, the first theory was “the more likely scenario.” However, the uncertainty of both theories was indicated by his statement, “We’re completely confused and having a wonderful time.”

William Shatner, an actor who
played Captain Kirk in the Star Trek series, through a proxy who attended the
NASA event on January 16, 2014, asked Dr. Squyres this question: “He’d (William Shatner would) like to know if
you’ve ruled out Martian rock throwers in the case of the jelly doughnut?” Dr. Squyres replied saying, “I think Martian
rock throwers are unlikely, though we’ll keep our eyes open for those.” This
writer, perhaps, like Mr. Shatner, feels that there may be more to this
incident concerning the Mars jelly doughnut rock than man may be able to
understand at this time (or wants to understand at this time). Therefore, the
writer will present a third theory to explain the appearance of this mysterious
rock. However, before doing so, he
would like to discuss the reason why he feels that that the present
explanations for the appearance of the Mars jelly doughnut rock are not correct. This reason pertains to the probability or likeliness of
something taking place. And the
likeliness of a rock as unique as the Mars jelly doughnut rock simply being
“kicked” or impelled by one of the wheels of the rover to a place where the
rover would end its short trip and also where the latter would be capable of photographing the rock for
scientists to study, involves a series of events the chances of which all of them occurring, is not only unlikely, but very unlikely. If this is so, then perhaps one has to
consider the possibility that an intelligent presence was involved in this
incident that resulted in the occurrence of something that under ordinary circumstances very likely should not have occurred.
We will now briefly discuss a few
of these events and circumstances that involve the Mars jelly doughnut rock
that together add up to an unlikelihood that this rock could have simply been “kicked” or
impelled by one of the wheels of the rover to its present location near the
Opportunity rover. With regard to the
movement of the rock to its present location, if this was accomplished by one of the wheels of the rover, it is
unusual that this rock just happened to be kicked to a location on the surface
of Mars that was the place, where the rover would wait for the end of the Martian
winter. It is also unusual that it was moved to a location where it could be
photographed and examined scientifically by Opportunity's instruments. Although it is possible that this could have
occurred as a result of natural coincidence, one would have to admit it would
have been an unlikely natural coincidence. With
regard to the rock, itself, the likelihood of such a unique rock being randomly
selected and “kicked” by one of the wheels of the rover to the place where it
presently is located must be astronomically unlikely.
This is a rock that Dr. Squyres described as, “It’s like nothing we have ever seen before.” Could a rock, such as this, with no rocks similar to it in the immediate area (or perhaps anywhere on Mars) be randomly selected by a wheel of the rover to be “kicked” to a place where Opportunity would return to and await the end of the Martian winter, and in so doing being in a position to be photographed by Opportunity’s cameras? In addition, this rock, in association with other rocks present in this area of the surface of Mars near Opportunity, as we shall see, together, comprises something that is referred to in this blog as an inspired source. Because an inspired source is inspired by the Creator, the writer believes the mysterious appearance of this rock could not have been simply a natural coincidence. It involved a divine intelligent presence who is referred to in this blog as the Creator. But, as we shall see, it probably involved other intelligent living entities who were not divine, but served the Creator.

But, as we shall see, it probably involved other intelligent living entities who were not divine, but served the Creator.
There are other reasons about the movement of this rock to its present location near Opportunity that further makes it seem unlikely that this incident was simply a natural coincidence. One of these concerns the place on a flat rock on the surface of Mars that the Mars jelly doughnut rock came to occupy after its movement. It appears that the latter came to rest directly upon a circular feature in the flat rock, mentioned above, that almost appears designed to receive this rock. A quick scan of the other flat rocks that comprise the surface of Mars in this area reveals no other feature that seems as suitable to receive a rock with dimensions, such as those of this rock. Again, is it just a natural coincidence that the Mars jelly doughnut rock came to occupy a place that seems to have been designed to receive it? Here, we are referring to general rock features, not mathematically precise dimensions. One should not attempt to look for a depression in the flat rock that exactly matches the dimensions of the Mars jelly doughnut rock. The rock features, referred to above, are precise enough for one to see that a compatibility exists between the round mars jelly donut rock and the round incised area of the flat rock upon which it rests, but not precise enough to measure accurately. All one can say is that the circular feature present on the flat rock upon which the Mars jelly doughnut rock came to rest is roughly the same circumference as the latter.
Finally, there is one last reason
concerning the movement of the Mars jelly doughnut rock to its present location
near Opportunity that further makes it seem unlikely that this was simply a
natural coincidence. This concerns an
alignment that originates at a Christian cross-like feature that can be seen on
one of the flat rocks that comprise the surface of Mars near the Mars jelly
doughnut rock. As we shall see later,
this alignment possesses three alignment points, two of which are associated
with the Christian cross-like feature and one of which is associated with the
Mars jelly doughnut rock. This alignment, apparently,
indicates that a symbolic relationship exists between Christianity and whatever
it is that the Mars jelly doughnut rock symbolizes. The existence of this alignment and its
association with the Christian cross-like feature and the Mars jelly donut rock reveals that it
was necessary for the rock to be located at the place that appears to have been
designed to receive it in order for the alignment, mentioned above, to precisely
connect the rock and the cross-like feature, thereby resulting in the association that exists between the
two. This Christian cross-like feature is found on the flat rock located
slightly above and to the right of the Mars jelly doughnut rock in Figure 2A/2B.

As for the writer’s
theory concerning the mysterious appearance of the Mars jelly doughnut rock,
this theory suggests that the rock was moved to its present location between
December 26, 2013 and January 8, 2014 as a result of activity by
living entities on Mars. The symbolism of
inspired sources has revealed that an intelligent presence (in addition to that
of man’s intelligent presence through robots, such as Opportunity) exists
on Mars (See Post 7 and 8 of the blog, Inspired Sources, Symbolism, and Anomalies (http://www.inspiredsourcessymbolismanomalies.blogspot.com) by Jack Hetrick. By means of symbolism and science, this
intelligent presence, apparently, chose to use certain features of the Mars jelly doughnut rock and
certain features of the surrounding rocks with which the latter is associated to attempt to convey
knowledge to man by means of symbolism. This knowledge is symbolically depicted in Figures 1A, 1B, 2A, and 2B. Artifacts produced by man and other living
entities that convey knowledge through symbolism are referred to in this blog
as inspired sources. Figures 1A, 1B, 2A, and 2B, in this context, are inspired sources.
But what exactly are inspired sources? Since the last decade of the twentieth century, it has been discovered that certain artifacts and terrain features on earth and elsewhere possess an unusual symbolism. These artifacts and terrain features, and photographic images of them, are referred to by the writer as inspired sources. As we shall see, this symbolism has a mathematical component to it that finds expression in the form of alignments and points of alignments. Because of this, the interpretation of this symbolism is not entirely subjective, but has an objective aspect to it, as well. Inspired sources are called "inspired" because the symbolism present in these artifacts and terrain features is believed to be inspired by the Creator. And they called "sources" because they are sources of increments of knowledge that are conveyed to one by the symbolism of inspired sources. Additional information concerning inspired sources may be found in Post 3 of the blog entitled, Inspired Sources and Man's Destiny (http://www.inspiredsources.blogspot.com) by Jack Hetrick.

Inspired sources, it is
believed, are the Creator’s way of preparing man, technologically, for the end
of the present age and the beginning of the future age. At the same time, inspired sources, it is believed, reveal the technological aspect of man’s destiny. On the other hand, Christianity and the passages of
the Bible that pertain to Christianity and Judaism, it is believed, are the
Creator’s way of preparing man, spiritually, for the end of the present age and
the beginning of the future age. At the same time, the passages of the Bible, it is believed, reveal the
spiritual aspect of man’s destiny.
The Mars jelly doughnut rock is small and seemingly insignificant. However, it is a feature associated with the inspired sources, "Pinnacle Island" (Figures 1A/1B and 2A/2B. Therefore, though this rock is small and seemingly insignificant, it is a part of the
Creator’s plan and purpose for the creation and the life that dwells
therein. In this context, this rock has
a purpose. And this purpose, it is believed, concerns no less than the
preparation of mankind for the end of the present age and beginning of the
future age.
It is possible
that the intelligent presence that is believed to have been the cause of the appearance
of the Mars jelly doughnut rock near the rover, Opportunity, on January 8,
2014, may have been the Creator, himself, in the person of the Son (the Word),
or the Holy Spirit, the second and third person of the Triune Godhead,
respectively. However, it is likely
that this intelligent presence was also in the form of living entities of an advanced
interstellar civilization who dwell beneath the surface of Mars. Presumably, it was the king of this
civilization who was responsible for the movement of the of the Mars
jelly doughnut rock to its present location (See Posts 7 and 8 of the blog entitled, Inspired Sources, Symbolism, and Anomalies (http://www.inspiredsourcessymbolismanomalies.blogspot.com)
by Jack Hetrick. The movement of the
Mars jelly doughnut rock by the living entities of this advanced interstellar
civilization to its present location may have been accomplished by a small
unmanned spaceship operated remotely by these living entities. This vehicle may have been similar to the small
drones that man has begun to manufacture and operate on earth at the present time. Using a small
drone-like spaceship, the living entities of this civilization would have been
capable of transporting the Mars jelly doughnut rock from a base beneath the surface of Mars or an invisible spaceship above the surface of Mars to the location where Opportunity would return on January 8,
2014. This location could have been known in advance by them, if they had been informed of this by the Creator, in the person of the Holy Spirit. Here, by means of remote control of the drone they could have placed the rock at a specific place on the surface of Mars where it would be discovered by Opportunity's camera, when the latter arrived at that location January 8, 2014. After the drone's work was done, these living entities then could have directed the drone to return to its
place of origin. When Opportunity returned, the
scientists monitoring the rover would then discover the unusual rock, which
was not present at that location, when the rover departed on its short trip
thirteen days ago. Although it may have seemed unusual to the rover scientists that this rock-the Mars jelly doughnut
rock-somehow appeared at a place where Opportunity was overwintering on
Mars, when it was not present at that place thirteen days before, there
would be no evidence to suggest that anything more than a natural coincidence
was involved. However, the Creator, it
is believed, had a reason for the living entities, mentioned above, moving of this rock to its present location. This reason involved, it is believed, eschatological events that are referred to in Christianity as the end of the age (Mt. 12:31-32) and the beginning of the age to come (Mt. 12:31-32) These events would reveal the need for man to put his trust in the Creator as that time draws near.
With regard to
the location that the rock, Pinnacle Island, would occupy, on the surface of Mars, it may be noted that in the “after” photograph (Figure 1B), the
Mars jelly doughnut rock rests upon a circular feature of one of the flat rocks
that comprises the surface of Mars. This
circular feature is more clearly visible in the “before” photograph (Figure 1A) where it is not obscured by the Mars jelly doughnut rock. This feature, in general, conforms to the
generally round shape of the Mars jelly doughnut rock, and almost seems to have been made for the latter to occupy. Is it possible that this circular feature, in this regard,
symbolizes an eye socket while the circular-shaped rock, Pinnacle Island, symbolizes an eye? This symbolism recalls the Easter Island tradition involving the "putting in place" of the eyes for a maoi (statue) by the ancient Polynesians who dwelt on the island. This ritual was done last following the erection of a
maoi on a ahu (platform), and involved the use of white coral for the white of
the eye and obsidian (or red scoria) for the iris. The making of the eyes and the putting in place of the latter was done last, it is believed, to ensure
that the manna (spiritual power) that the statue was believed to possess in
the eyes of the Easter Islanders was not activated until the proper time. In the context of the Mars jelly doughnut
rock, the rock could be viewed as symbolizing an eye and the circular feature
on the flat rock, upon which it rests, the eye socket that was designed to
receive this eye. Just as the maoi of Easter Island were the objects that
received eyes, mentioned above, it is possible that there also exists an
object associated with the surface of Mars that lies
in proximity to the Mars jelly doughnut rock that corresponds to the maoi,
mentioned above, and receives eyes. The eyes (or eye) in this case is symbolized by the Mars jelly doughnut
rock. Like the eyeless maoi of Easter
Island, until this object receives this eye, it is possible it can not activate
its power. But after it receives this eye, it can do so (or the time has arrived for it to do so).
What is the
object, or feature, referred to above, that seems to be associated with the Mars
jelly doughnut rock? This feature
appears to be associated with the flat rock upon which rests the Mars jelly doughnut rock. However, this feature should not be confused with the
circular feature, mentioned above, that is found on the same flat rock and,
symbolically, serves as the eye socket for the eye that is symbolized by the Mars jelly
doughnut rock. Rather, this feature
comprises the entire flat rock, mentioned above, and if one looks closely, this
feature resembles a proboscidean (Figures 1A and 1B). In this context, the trunk of the
proboscidean extends down from the location of the Mars jelly doughnut rock. The latter, in this context, symbolizes the
left eye of the proboscedian, and appropriately occupies the circular feature
of this flat rock. In addition, the left
side of the proboscidean is in view, as well, including a large left foot which
can be seen below the end of the trunk.
Inspired sources have revealed that a proboscidean symbolizes the living
entities of the most ancient advanced interstellar civilization that dwell in
the Milky Way Galaxy. See Post 4 of the blog entitled, Inspired Sources and Man's Destiny
(http://www.inspiredsources.blogspot.com) by Jack Hetrick. It is possible that Jesus Christ, once was,
and may still be, a member of this advanced interstellar civilization. If so, then the proboscidean depicted as a
feature of the flat rock, mentioned above, may symbolize Jesus Christ,
himself. This would mean that the Mars
jelly doughnut rock that symbolizes the left eye of the proboscidean, also
symbolizes the left eye of Jesus Christ, as well.
With regard to
the Mars jelly doughnut rock, it may be recalled that the central depression of
this rock is red, but not the rust colored red that is typical of Mars’ geology. It is more like a deep red color. Is it possible that this red color, when
combined with the symbolism of the rock as an eye, has symbolic significance? A red eye could symbolize several things,
among them, anger. Does this mean that
the king or leader of the advanced interstellar civilization symbolized by the
proboscidean is angry with something or someone, and only recently has
activated the power he possesses to address the matter? This activation may have been symbolized by
the locating of the Mars jelly doughnut rock at its present location, where it
symbolizes the left eye of the proboscidean.
If this king or leader, mentioned above, is Jesus Christ, perhaps Jesus
Christ, himself, is angry with something or someone, and he has made a decision
to bring judgment upon that or those who are the cause of his
anger.
Who are those
whom the king or leader of the proboscideans, and, presumably, the
Creator, as well, is angry with? At first, there
would appear to be little in Figures 1A/1B and 2A/2B that would reveal
this. However, if one carefully views
the flat rocks that comprise the surface of Mars that surround the Mars jelly
doughnut rock, he may discover that two of these flat rocks resemble the states
of Oregon and Washington, USA, as viewed from high above the earth. The flat rock that was previously stated to
resemble a proboscidean, in this context, is believed to symbolize Oregon,
while the rectangular flat rock above this flat rock in Figures 1A and 1B, in
this context, is believed to symbolize Washington. In this geographical context, the Mars jelly
doughnut rock is located at a place where the volcanic mountain, Mt. Hood,
would be expected to be located on an actual map of Oregon. Furthermore, symbolically, the Mars jelly
doughnut rock could be viewed as resembling a volcano in eruption. In this regard, the red area found in
the central depression of the rock could be viewed as symbolizing the flow of
magma from the crater of a volcano, while the white area that surrounds
the red area could be viewed as symbolizing the glaciers and snow
fields that typically cover the slopes of a volcano in the Pacific Northwest, USA.
It may be
recalled that Dr. Squyres stated that the red part of the Mars jelly doughnut
rock was found to be “very high in sulfur, very high in magnesium, and it has
twice as much manganese than anything we’ve seen on Mars.” It is not known, for
certain, what this may mean. However, if
Mt. Hood erupted, a considerable amount of sulfur dioxide (SO2)
would be released into the atmosphere.
This may explain the symbolism of the sulfur component of the red part
of the rock. But what about the
magnesium and manganese components of the red part of the rock? What do these symbolize? At first, these two elements would appear to
have little to do with an erupting volcano.
However, these elements may have a different kind of relationship with
an erupting volcano than that which we saw in the case of sulfur. Based on the symbolism found in this, and other, inspired sources,
it is possible that the disc spaceships of an advanced interstellar civilization may
be largely comprised of an magnesium/manganese alloy. The
circular appearance of the Mars jelly doughnut rock, in this context, could be
viewed as symbolizing the configuration of a disc spaceship.
Perhaps, a disc spaceship, operated by living entities of an advanced interstellar civilization, possesses technology that is capable of causing a volcano to erupt. If it is assumed that a disc spaceship may be capable of causing a volcano to erupt, it is likely that this only applies to active volcanoes (not extinct volcanoes). With this in mind, it should also be noted that Mt. Hood is an active volcano. Therefore, the magnesium and manganese components that are present in the red part of the Mars jelly doughnut rock can be viewed as symbolizing a disc spaceship that possesses technology capable of causing a volcano, such as Mt. Hood, to erupt. And the sulfur component that is present in the red part of the Mars jelly doughnut rock can be viewed as symbolizing the eruption of a volcano through the use of this technology. The magnesium and manganese components and the sulfur component, therefore, can be viewed as symbolically associated, and associated, in particular, with the future eruption of a volcano in the Pacific Northwest, USA, which, inspired sources seem to indicate, may be Mt. Hood.
As noted above, the future eruption of Mt. Hood may be associated with a judgment by the Creator's upon the people of Oregon. As we shall see, this judgment may be represented by alignment A below. But with regard to the possible future judgment of the people of Washington, this may not involve the eruption of an volcano. Rather, this may involve an earthquake. In addition, it may not involve a disc spaceship that possesses technology capable of causing an earthquake. Rather, this earthquake may be the result of a manifestation of the spoken word by the king or leader of the most ancient advanced interstellar civilization who serves the Creator. This king or leader, as we saw, is symbolized by a feature of the inspired source, "Pinnacle Island" (Figure 2A/2B), that resembles a proboscidean. We have also stated that this feature may symbolize Jesus Christ. As we shall see, this future judgment involving an earthquake seems to be represented by alignment B below.
Unlike alignment A, alignment B does not intersect the Mars jelly doughnut rock. Therefore, there does not seem to be any reason to assume the earthquake associated with alignment B will be caused by an disc spaceship operated by living entities of an advanced interstellar civilization. The one notable feature of the flat rock that symbolizes Washington in the inspired source, "Pinnacle Island" ( Figure 2A/2B) that is intersected by alignment B is a clearly defined large crack in that rock. This crack, it is believed, symbolizes a fault associated with the Juan de Fuca plate that extends from the northern part of that plate southeast to the northern part of Puget Sound. It is possible that along this fault the earthquake, mentioned above, may occur. At this time, we shall now turn to alignments A and B of the inspired source, "Pinnacle Island" (Figures 2A/2B).
Inspired sources always possess alignments. This is true, also, of the inspired source, "Pinnacle Island" (Figure 2A/2B. The alignments of Figures 2A and 2B are designated alignments A
and B, and each of these alignments has
three alignment points. Furthermore, like all
alignments that are present in inspired sources, these alignments convey
knowledge through symbolism. We will now briefly discuss this symbolism and the knowledge that it conveys.
In this regard, alignment A will be discussed first, and then alignment B.
With regard to
alignment A, the reader’s attention is directed to a feature on one of the flat
rocks that form the surface of Mars in Figures 2A and 2B. Click on the picture to enlarge. This flat rock is located
slightly above and to the right of the Mars jelly doughnut rock. It may be noted that the feature, mentioned above, that is associated
with this flat rock resembles a Christian cross. This feature can be seen in
its entirety only in the “before” photograph (Figure 2A). However, it is only in the “after” photograph
(Figure 2B) that alignment A can be seen to make contact with a point on the
circumference of the Mars jelly doughnut rock.
This is so because it is only in this photograph (and Figure 1B) that this rock is
depicted. Alignment A begins at point A1
located at the end of the left side of the crossbeam that makes up one of the
two members of this cross, proceeds to point A2 located at the left side of the
base of the upright beam, mentioned above, and terminates at point A3 located at a point on the
left side of the circumference of the Mars jelly doughnut rock.
It is notable that the left side of the two features referred to as the two beams of a Christian cross and a point on the left side of the circumference of the Mars jelly doughnut rock are associated with alignment A. In inspired sources, the left side symbolizes Christ-like attributes and service to the Creator, whereas the right side symbolizes Satan-like attributes and service to Satan. Because the left side of the two features, mentioned above, are intersected by alignment A, this would appear to mean that the activity that pertains to this inspired source (Figures 2A and 2B) and the Pacific Northwest, USA, is one that has the support of the Creator, and if so, then, must have the support of Jesus Christ, also.

The feature,
referred to as a Christian cross, above, is believed to be symbolically
significant, and the association of the latter with the Mars jelly doughnut
rock would seem to imply that Christianity-perhaps Christian eschatology-is
involved with the symbolism present in this inspired source. This could cause some to believe that the
proboscidean, whose left eye is symbolized by the Mars jelly doughnut rock, may
signify Jesus Christ, himself. If this
is correct, then a decision of great importance may have recently been made in
the kingdom of God that will further prepare mankind for the end of the present age and the beginning of the future age, or as
the latter is referred to in Christian eschatology-the age to come (Mt. 12:31-32).
With regard to alignment B, alignment B begins at point B1 located at the lowest "bump" on the trunk of the ambiguous feature that resembles a proboscidean, proceeds to point B2 located on the second lowest "bump" of the trunk of the ambiguous feature that resembles a proboscidean, and terminates at point B3 located at the place of intersection of alignment B and a clearly defined large crack located in the upper-left corner of the flat rock that symbolizes Washington. Although it is not known, for certain, if the intersection, mentioned above, actually occurs at a place on the flat rock that symbolizes northern Puget Sound, it does appear to take place somewhere in the northwestern part of Washington. The significance of points B1 and B2 of Figures 2A and 2B in this context, is not known, for certain. However, if a major Cascadia earthquake would take place in a part of Washington symbolized by point B3, it would not be unreasonable to assume that other earthquakes may follow in the Cascadia Subduction Zone. And two of these, represented by points B1 and B2, may take place along the southwestern coast of Oregon, as indicated, symbolically, in the inspired sources, Figures 2A and 2B.

Note: Since the NASA event on January 16, 2014, certain statements made by scientists associated with the MER (Mars Exploration Rovers) mission, concerning the rock, Pinnacle Island, could be interpreted as updates about what is being learned concerning this rock. For example, in mid-January 2014, Steve Squyres, the MER Principal Investigator, stated that the red part of the rock "is very high in sulfur, very high in magnesium, and has twice as much manganese than anything we've seen on Mars." However, at month's end, Ray Arvidson, the MER Deputy Principal Investigator, stated that "the dark red stuff appears to be iron manganese oxide of some kind," while the surrounding white part "represents some kind of sulfate." Although the updated information, if correct, would appear to conflict with some of the conclusions arrived at by the writer that were based on the earlier information concerning the chemical composition of the rock, this does not necessarily mean that these conclusions are in error.
It is possible that the Creator may have desired the earlier information to be made public because it possessed the information that was necessary in order to express the symbolism that the Creator wished to reveal to man by means of this inspired source (Figures 1A and 1B). Therefore, although Dr. Squyres, in mid-January, stated the red part of the rock was comprised of sulfur, magnesium, and manganese, and made no mention of the white part of the rock; and Dr. Arvidson, at month's end, stated the red part of the rock was comprised of iron manganese oxide, and the white part of the rock was comprised of some kind of sulfate, and made no mention of magnesium, the purposes of symbolism and science, it is believed, were served to the Creator's satisfaction by both statements, above.
